The invitation is not persuasion, but a clear, short and respectful invite to get to know a piece of information.

The invitation is one of the most important and most misunderstood skills in network marketing. Most people think that the invitation is where you have to convince the other person - but it is exactly the opposite. The goal of the invitation is not persuasion, but one single thing: to get the other person to say yes to watching or listening to a piece of information. They do not make the decision now, but only later, after they have seen the information. Once you understand this one principle, your invitations immediately become easier and more honest.

The principles of a good invitation

A professional invitation is short, confident and pressure-free. You are not the one who fills the other person up with all the details - that will be the tool's job (a video, a presentation, a three-way call). At the invitation, your only task is to spark interest and ask a closing question about a time.

A few principles worth keeping at every invitation.

  • Be short - the more you explain, the weaker the invitation
  • Do not hand over the full information in the invitation, only invite them to the information
  • Offer a choice of time, not pressure (Tuesday or Thursday, which suits better?)
  • Never promise income or guaranteed success in the invitation
  • Respect the no - if someone is not interested, thank them and move on

Scripts for the warm market

A script is not text to be recited, but a frame that you fill with your own words. The point is the structure: sparking interest, offering the information, then closing with a time. A simple, usable example: Hi, I know you have been saying lately that you would happily do something alongside your main job. I have started something that I think might interest you. I do not want to explain everything over the phone - there is a short presentation that tells it much better than I could. Could you take a look at it this week?

Notice what this text does not contain: there is no income promise in it, no pressure, no false scarcity. What it does contain is honesty and a specific, easy-to-meet request. If the other person asks what it is about, you can calmly say: that is exactly why I would like you to watch the presentation, because it tells it much more precisely than I could over the phone.

Scripts for the cold market

In the cold market you first have to build a connection before you talk about any opportunity. On social media this means that you first have a real conversation - you take an interest in the other person's content, work and life, without making a business offer in the first message. Spam-like mass DMs are not only ineffective, they also violate the platforms' rules and damage your personal brand.

Once a natural conversation has developed and it turns out that the topic may be relevant to the other person, then the invitation can come - with the same short, pressure-free structure as in the warm market. The only difference is that here building trust is a longer process and requires patience.

The invitation is not about talking someone into a yes. It is about giving them a fair opportunity to make their own decision.
